Car(s): Fiberglass Dune Buggy on 1965 chassis
Engine Size/Mods: 1973 1600cc over the counter block Special Car Information: I purchased this buggy in March 2007 and spent the summer restoring it. My schedule allowed me to work on it one day a week but by the end of summer I had it on the road. I was luck that I had the help and experience from two really great friends that I needed to complete my project in such a short time. I was able to put 178 Miles on, one car show and two parades before the cold set in. I plan on driving the wheels off it this summer. A few weeks ago Me and a buddy finished a hard top for my buggy to help keep off some of the sun this summer. He posted the pics of the project on the SAMBA site.
Story: I fell in love with the dune buggy look when I was a kid and always wanted one. When a guy I worked with told me he had one for sale, we negotiated the price for about a year before I finally agreed to buy it. I know why wait that long but I was going thru a divorce and money was tight at that point but it all worked out in the end. I know my buggy is not perfect and has some flaws, But it still an on going project but a driveable one. I currently work for a large diesel engine manufacture where I went thru a machinist training program, Worked in assembling the engine and now in our quality dept. I have also been in the Army, worked in maintenance at an airport, worked as industrial sewing machine mechanic/ maintenance supervisor. I have two great boys three and nine. They keep me pretty busy with school, sports, and Cub Scouts (as Cub master and a den leader). Involved in my church and like hanging out with friends and family as much as I can.
